Training Activities

As part of the centre's activities, we also ensure educational innovation for full-time students. We are updating the study materials for three key subjects within the Cybersecurity study programme – Security Management (Bachelor's level), Troubleshooting Large-Scale Infrastructures (Master's level), and Advanced Cybersecurity (Master's level). All updated materials are made available on the subject websites, freely accessible to the general public.

For secondary schools, we organise a minimum of twenty training sessions, seminars and webinars annually, with a total participation of over two hundred students. Furthermore, under the Cisco Networking Academy Programme, we have contractual agreements with eighty schools across Slovakia.

Our courses are not just a series of lectures. They are designed as a competency development programme. Participants work with real tools in real-world scenarios under the guidance of tutors who not only lecture on cybersecurity but also actively develop it through research. We regularly update the course content to reflect the latest developments in threats and technologies. We place a strong emphasis on the specificities of the public sector, which provides a significant added value compared to general commercial training available on the market.

The quality of education at the Cybersecurity Competence Centre relies on the expertise of the people standing in front of the course participants. Our trainers are academic and research staff from the Technical University of Košice with an average of over fifteen years of experience. They lecture on cybersecurity every day, develop it through research, and actively publish in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings.

Our team includes professors and associate professors who were instrumental in the creation of the Cybersecurity study programme in Slovakia, heads of specialised laboratories, coordinators of international research projects, and members of state administration advisory bodies. These range from the Strategic Advisory Group of the National Cybersecurity Competence and Coordination Centre and the Sector Council for Information Technologies and Telecommunications, to the Cybersecurity and Digitalisation Section of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

At the same time, our trainers hold internationally recognised industry certifications from leading global vendors such as Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CyberOps), Check Point (CCSA, CCSE, CCSM), Fortinet, VMware, and LPIC, including the Enterprise Professional Security level, as well as Certified Ethical Hacker. Many of them also act as certified instructors within the Cisco Networking Academy, Fortinet Academy, Check Point SecureAcademy, and VMware IT Academy programmes, meaning they possess not only deep subject-matter expertise but also proven pedagogical experience.

This combination of academic research, practical industry experience, and active involvement in national and international professional bodies guarantees that our course content is always up to date, validated, and applicable to the real-world practices of public administration.
